The President of KAGOTE, Chief Lesi Maol, has condemned the killing of Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa, who was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bori, the traditional headquarters of Ogoni.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Maol described the attack as “barbaric, cruel and senseless,” saying such acts of violence have no place in a peaceful and progressive society. He stressed that KAGOTE would not tolerate criminality or bloodshed in any part of Ogoniland and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
The KAGOTE President urged the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to intensify investigations and ensure the perpetrators are swiftly identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
To aid the investigation, Maol announced a ₦2 million reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to the identification and arrest of the attackers. He assured members of the public that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality and encouraged anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station or any recognized security agency.

He also appealed to the people of Ogoni to remain calm, law-abiding, and avoid taking the law into their own hands, warning that retaliation would only worsen the situation and undermine the peace and unity of the area.
Expressing confidence in the ability of security agencies to unravel the crime, Maol urged residents to cooperate fully with investigators by providing relevant information.
He extended his condolences to the family of the late Letam Kinee, his friends, associates, and the entire Ogoni people, praying for the strength to bear the loss.
Maol reaffirmed KAGOTE’s commitment to protecting lives, promoting peace, and ensuring justice, insisting that Ogoniland must never become a haven for violence and criminality.
