Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Amasenibo Abinye Blessing Pepple, has tasked residents of Shell Pipeline and Ayambo communities on absolute compliance to the order of the Rivers State High Court restraining further demolition actions, negotiations or alterations pending the determination of the suit.
Pepple gave this charge on Monday, February 16, 2026, when he received aggrieved residents at the Bonny Council Secretariat.
Addressing them, the Bonny LG chair reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security stability amid the petroleum right-of-way disputes.
He urged the residents whose structures fall within the ongoing demolition exercise initiated for the Bonny-Oloma Petroleum right-of-way, to be law abiding.
Pepple commended the peaceful disposition of the protesters, stressing that the protest is “an essential expression of democratic rights, especially when citizens feel their interests are threatened.
“The security architecture of Bonny Local Government Area remains intact and uncompromised.
“The Rivers State High Court had issued a subsisting restraining order prohibiting all parties – government, companies, and affected communities from undertaking further demolition actions, negotiations, or alterations pending the determination of the suit.
“Taking any step contrary to the court order would amount to an Act of Prejudice and urged the communities to remain law-abiding while allowing the judicial process to run its full course.” He said.
