Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has explained why she became widely associated with villainous and antagonistic roles throughout her decades-long acting career.
Ozokwo spoke during a livestreamed interview with content creator Carter Efe on Monday, where she addressed the public’s curiosity about her frequent portrayal of “wicked” characters in Nigerian movies.
The interview clip subsequently gained attention on social media, with fans discussing the actress’ explanation for her iconic roles.
According to Ozokwo, her recurring portrayal of antagonists was more than a career decision, describing it as a niche she believes was given to her by God.
“I think God gave me that niche,” she said.
The veteran actress stressed that, in her personal life, she dislikes evil and injustice, noting that her movie roles should not be mistaken for her actual character.
“I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war, and rancour. When you give me those roles, I try to bring everything in them,” she said.
Ozokwo explained that her villainous characters were designed to teach audiences about the consequences of their actions and the importance of living upright lives.

She urged viewers to pay attention to the outcomes of the behaviours portrayed in movies, stressing that bad actions eventually have consequences.
“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof,” she said.
The actress added that her performances were intended not only to entertain but also to educate audiences by showing what could happen to people who choose harmful or immoral paths.
“Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she said.
Through her memorable portrayals, Ozokwo has become one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actresses, particularly for characters that embody strict, domineering or antagonistic personalities.
