Amaewhule Inaugurates Projects as Abua/Odual LG Marks 100 Days in Office

The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, on Thursday led a delegation of lawmakers to Abua/Odual Local Government Area to commission a series of projects executed by the council chairman, Hon. Ofori Owolobi Michael, in commemoration of his first 100 days in office.

The inaugurated projects included 35 mini buses, two haulage vans, four 14-seater buses, 30 motorcycles, one ambulance, a community hall, and several lawnmowers.

The vehicles, according to Chairman Owolobi, were procured to alleviate transportation challenges faced by residents of the rural local government area.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Owolobi expressed gratitude to the Assembly for its support, noting that the initiatives were designed to improve mobility and community infrastructure. “These buses and motorcycles will ease the movement of our people, particularly in areas where transportation remains a major hindrance,” he said.

Prominent stakeholders in Abua/Odual, including elder statesman Henry Ogiri and community leader Ukiel Oyagiri, used the occasion to appeal passionately for urgent intervention on the deplorable Ahoada-Abua road. They described the road as a major impediment to economic activities and social development in the area.

In response, Speaker Amaewhule pledged the Assembly’s commitment to legislative action that would facilitate the reconstruction of the road.

“We will do everything within our legislative powers to ensure this critical infrastructure is addressed without delay,” he assured.

The delegation included the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol; Majority Leader, Hon. Major Jack; Hon. Prince Jay Oforji; Hon. Lolo Opunde; and other members of the House.

The event underscored the growing collaboration between the state legislature and local government administrations in delivering democratic dividends to the grassroots.
