The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reinforced its commitment to protecting the integrity of football after conducting a mandatory integrity briefing for players and officials of the Flamingos ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The briefing, completed on Wednesday by the NFF Integrity Unit, was designed to educate members of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team and their officials on the dangers of match manipulation and the consequences of involvement in corrupt practices.
According to the Federation, the session focused on helping participants identify, resist and report attempts by individuals seeking to influence match outcomes during the tournament.
Players and officials were also briefed on the tactics commonly used by match-fixers, alongside the potential disciplinary consequences for anyone involved in match manipulation.
Key areas covered included recognising suspicious approaches, the prohibition of betting on football matches and sharing confidential team information, as well as the procedures for reporting suspected integrity breaches.
The NFF also highlighted the availability of confidential reporting channels around the clock, urging players and officials to report suspicious approaches or activities that could compromise the integrity of the competition.
The initiative reflects the Federation’s zero-tolerance policy towards match-fixing and other forms of corruption in football.
The briefing also forms part of FIFA’s wider integrity-protection framework for the 2026 tournament, which includes systems to monitor suspicious betting patterns, intelligence sharing with law enforcement agencies and ongoing integrity support throughout the competition.
The measures are intended to protect the credibility of the tournament and ensure participating teams compete under fair and transparent conditions.
The Flamingos are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism throughout the competition, with the NFF urging players and officials to remain vigilant and promptly report any attempt to undermine the integrity of the game.
The 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 7. Nigeria are drawn in Group B alongside North Korea, Poland and Puerto Rico.
