Abua/Odual Local Government Area in Rivers State, on Thursday, marked a historic milestone as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Engr. Owolobi Michael Ofori, flagged off the construction of the Abua/Odual Division of the Rivers State High Court Complex.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, Engr. Ofori described the project as a landmark achievement that would strengthen access to justice and drive socio-economic transformation in the area.
“This is a proud day for Abua/Odual. We are not just building a court; we are bringing justice closer to our people and laying a solid foundation for development,” he said.
The chairman noted that Abua/Odual holds special significance in the state’s judicial history, being the first place where the current Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, served as a magistrate.
He commended the Ezue Abuan, led by its President General and his father, Chief Moses Ofori, for initiating the advocacy that made the project possible.
Representing the Chief Judge, the Chief Registrar, His Worship David D. Ihua-Maduenyi, praised the council boss for the bold initiative, saying the new court would ease pressure on the Ahoada High Court and enhance justice delivery in the region.
Former Minister of State for Environment, Hon. Udi Odum, lauded the administration’s commitment to legacy projects and urged lawyers from the area to maximize the facility.
