The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command (CP) Olugbenga Adepoju has reaffirmed the commitment of the Police to deepen collaboration with the Nigerian Army in ensuring sustained peace and security across the State.
In a statement issued on Thursday , October 8 by the Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, CP Adepoju gave the assurance when playing host to Brigadier-General Bello, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Garrison Division/Sector 3 Joint Task Force (JTF), South-South Operations Delta Safe, at the Police State Headquarters, Port Harcourt.
The visit, described as a symbol of renewed partnership, was aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation and reinforcing operational synergy between the two security formations in tackling crime and maintaining public order in Rivers State.
In his remarks, Brigadier-General Bello expressed appreciation for the warm reception and stated that his visit was primarily to formally inform the Commissioner of Police of his assumption of duty as the new helmsman of the Division.

He pledged to sustain and build upon the enduring relationship established by his predecessor, stressing the importance of joint efforts in safeguarding lives and property.
Responding, CP Adepoju commended the Nigerian Army for its continuous support in the fight against crime and insecurity, noting that the strong bond between the Police and the Army has been instrumental in restoring peace and stability in the State.
He emphasised that the relationship between the two agencies extends beyond formal engagements, describing it as a strategic partnership vital for protecting government infrastructure and critical assets.
He assured that the Rivers State Police Command remains committed to nurturing a collaborative atmosphere conducive to effective security operations.
The exchange of plaques between the two leaders which were observed symbolized mutual respect, trust, and shared commitment to maintaining law and order.
“This gesture underscores the commitment of both agencies to work together in combating crime and maintaining peace in Rivers State,” Iringe-Koko noted.
