Two people have reportedly been killed, and several others kidnapped after gunmen attacked a group inspecting farmland in Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
Among those reportedly killed was a vigilante operative identified as Chigaemezu Ozuzu, who was said to be escorting the group when the attackers opened fire.
Several other victims reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the security situation in parts of Imo State, with residents increasingly worried about the safety of farmers, property buyers and other people moving around rural communities.
