President Bola Tinubu has cut short his annual vacation and is set to return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The Special Adviser made the announcement to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a press statement released last night.

The President had departed Nigeria on September 4 for a work-vacation, with initial plans to split his time between France and the United Kingdom.

However, he has concluded the trip ahead of schedule to resume his official duties. While in Paris, Tinubu held a private luncheon with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron.

The two leaders reportedly reviewed key areas of cooperation between their nations and agreed to strengthen the partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability.

The early return is expected to see Tinubu re-engage with pressing national issues. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his work vacation ahead of schedule and will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to resume official duties,” he wrote.

“The President departed for France on September 4, 2025, to spend part of his annual holiday and was initially scheduled to divide the period between France and the United Kingdom”, Onanuga said.

During his working vacation, he met and had a working lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

The event took place when his 10-day working leave entered its fifth day. The State House Media Office released pictures from the launch which showed Tinubu and Macron in a warm handshake.

The two leaders met amid the political tension in France, where nationwide unrest broke out across the country.
