Tinubu Arrives in Japan for Key African Development Conference

President Bola Tinubu has landed in Tokyo, Japan, to participate in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).

He was received at the airport on Monday by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, along with Japanese government officials.

The President’s journey began on Friday, August 15, from Abuja, with a stop in Dubai before continuing to Japan.

He is accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking government officials, including ministers and special advisers.

According to a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu will be in Yokohama for the TICAD9 conference from August 20 to 22.

His itinerary includes attending several plenary sessions focused on the conference’s core themes.

In addition, the President is scheduled to conduct bilateral meetings and engage with the chief executive officers of Japanese corporations that have invested in Nigeria.

Following his engagements in Japan, President Tinubu will travel to Brasilia, Brazil, for a two-day state visit.

The visit, at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, is slated for Sunday, August 24, and Monday, August 25.

Onanuga noted that during his time in Brazil, President Tinubu will hold a bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart and participate in a business forum with Brazilian investors.
