President Bola Tinubu has offered his congratulations to the winners of the by-elections held on Saturday, August 16, across 16 constituencies in 12 states.

He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a smooth and largely violence-free exercise.

The results, as announced by INEC, showed the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing a significant victory with wins in 12 constituencies.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) each won one.

President Tinubu extended his congratulations to the new APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on this decisive first victory under his leadership.

“To all APC faithful and the electorate, thank you for the confidence reposed in our party.

The President also commended all political parties and their candidates who participated in the by-elections, urging them to continue upholding the spirit of sportsmanship, fair contest, and magnanimity for the sake of Nigeria’s democracy.
