Omisore Unaware of Adeleke’s Purported APC Move, Dismisses Coalition Threat

OMISORE

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyiola Omisore, stated yesterday that he has no knowledge of any political plans by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to defect to the APC.

This comes amidst ongoing speculation about Governor Adeleke’s political alignment, fueled by his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on June 4. Adeleke has consistently denied such rumours, affirming his continued loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Omisore addressed the swirling rumours.
“I am not aware, but when you want to come to a party, there must be a willing reception from the party members. They must come to the home because politics is very local,” Omisore remarked in response to questions about Adeleke’s alleged move to the APC in Osun State.

When pressed on whether Adeleke’s potential defection would strengthen the APC, Omisore remained non-committal, neither confirming nor denying the prospect.

He acknowledged that there is no inherent impropriety in Adeleke joining the party, but cautioned that such a move is not conducted through social media.

Omisore further claimed that the political landscape in Osun State is becoming unsettled, with PDP representatives reportedly “struggling to come to the APC.”

Governor Adeleke, representing the Peoples Democratic Party, secured his gubernatorial victory in 2022 by defeating the then-incumbent APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola. With the 2026 polls approaching, rumours persist that Adeleke might be considering leaving the PDP in pursuit of his re-election ambitions.

During the broadcast, Omisore also criticised a newly formed coalition of opposition leaders operating under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The APC chieftain warned of internal strife within the ADC, describing some of its members as “hawks” whose personal ambitions he believes will ultimately lead to disarray within the coalition.

Omisore expressed confidence in the APC’s current dominance, asserting that the opposition would be unable to defeat incumbent Tinubu.
