The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) has been fully restored and is now urging tertiary institutions to accelerate their admission processes to make up for time lost during a 96-hour disruption.
According to the Board, the system was fully back online as of Sunday, September 27, 2026. In a statement issued through its weekly bulletin, JAMBulletin, JAMB apologised to candidates, institutions, and other stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the outage, acknowledging CAPS’s importance to the admission process and thanking stakeholders for their patience during the disruption.
The Board is now calling on institutions to intensify admission activities to meet deadlines set at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions. JAMB had earlier attributed the disruption to an administrative issue involving its hosting provider, and said it worked with relevant service providers to restore the platform.

With CAPS operational again, JAMB is urging candidates to promptly accept any admission offers they receive to help keep the process on track. Per the Board, admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session must be concluded by December 31, 2026, with public universities required to finish by October 31, private universities by November 30, and other tertiary institutions by December 31.
Following the recent release of NECO’s 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination results, JAMB specifically urged public universities to speed up admissions to meet the October deadline. Candidates still awaiting their NECO results have been advised to upload or verify them promptly so their credentials are available for admission consideration.
JAMB also assured stakeholders it would promptly review and approve admission recommendations submitted through CAPS as institutions work through their processes.
On preventing future disruptions, the Board said it is implementing both medium- and long-term measures to strengthen CAPS’s resilience and reliability, including redundancy and business-continuity arrangements designed to reduce dependence on a single hosting environment and lower the risk of similar incidents going forward. JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to improving the admission process, saying lessons from the disruption would help strengthen the platform and the overall admissions experience.
