The Bayelsa State Government has given its approval for the renovation of the Otuegwe Cottage Hospital in Ogbia Local Government Area as a way of improving the primary healthcare delivery system in order to make medical treatment easily accessible to the people especially those from the riverine communities.
This was revealed by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe when he inspected the hospital, says a Sunday publication.
He said the hospital has been under-utilized over the years since it was constructed leading to the degradation of some part of the building.

According to Brisibe, the state government’s ambition is to provide quality primary health care services to the people without having to travel over large distances.
He said that the provision of health care is very important and essential for human dignity and productivity and future of the state.
The commissioner was on an inspection tour of the hospital along with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Jones Stow and the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Williams Appah.
The Commissioner assured the people that the hospital would be renovated to ensure that it functions effectively for the provision of good health services in the community.
The Commissioner equally lauded the traditional rulers, Community Development Committee, and the youths of Otuegwe for their contributions to the development of the community.
