The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged residents to stand by the party following the Supreme Court ruling that resolved its long-running leadership dispute.
Reacting to the judgment, the party said the apex court’s decision—upholding an earlier Court of Appeal ruling that nullified the Ibadan convention—reaffirmed the supremacy of the rule of law over political sentiments.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Chief Kingsley Akpos Oturubo, the PDP described the verdict as a definitive end to the internal crisis that had unsettled the party.
The chapter said attention would now shift to rebuilding and repositioning, declaring that the PDP remains strong and ready for the 2027 general elections.
It called on the people of Delta State to renew their support, maintaining that the party has consistently delivered democratic benefits to the electorate over the years.
The PDP also extended an olive branch to aggrieved members and those who had left, urging them to return with a promise of fairness and inclusion.
“We will be magnanimous in victory. PDP remains your home,” the statement read, as the party appealed for unity ahead of future political contests.
The chapter further congratulated members of the National Working Committee, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu for their roles in securing the legal victory.
It praised their resilience and commitment, noting that the outcome has strengthened confidence in the party’s leadership and democratic values.
