The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application documents to 8th May 2026, in a move aimed at ensuring that no prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 29, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said the extension reflects the Board’s determination to expand access and accommodate the growing number of applicants across the country.
Benjamin explained that the decision was taken to ease pressure on existing centres and provide candidates with more options to complete their registration.
To ease the pressure, JAMB approved five additional centres in different states. They include the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago‑Iwoye, Ogun State; Prof. Usman E‑Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Onike, Lagos State, which will commence operations on April 30 2026.

The Board emphasized that the move was necessary to ease congestion and ensure candidates in densely populated areas are not left stranded during the registration process.
He added that while the extension provides more time, candidates are strongly advised to take advantage of both the newly approved centres and JAMB’s Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) and Professional Testing Centres (PTCs) nationwide, which remain open for the ongoing Direct Entry exercise.
With the new deadline and expanded registration facilities, JAMB has reinforced its commitment to fairness and inclusivity in the admission process, ensuring that every qualified candidate has the opportunity to pursue higher education without unnecessary barriers.
