Hull City continued their impressive start to the Premier League season with a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, denying the Blues the opportunity to record three consecutive home league victories for the first time since May 2025.
Hull arrived in west London aiming to make history by becoming the first promoted side in Premier League history to keep four consecutive clean sheets. However, that ambition lasted just seven minutes as Morgan Rogers opened the scoring for Chelsea.
Rogers had contributed to a goal in each of Chelsea’s league matches this season and extended that run with a powerful effort that beat Konstantinos Tzolakis at his near post.
Chelsea dominated the early stages but failed to build on their advantage, allowing Hull back into the contest before the half-hour mark. Ryan Giles’ hooked cross took an awkward bounce over Jorrel Hato and fell perfectly for Mohamed Belloumi, who calmly guided the ball beyond Emiliano Martínez to level the score.
Hull then completed a remarkable turnaround just six minutes later. Semi Ajayi’s header struck the crossbar before Belloumi reacted quickest to fire home a deflected effort and put the visitors ahead.
The travelling supporters responded by chanting that their side was going to win the league, with Hull surprisingly sitting top of the live Premier League standings at half-time.

Chelsea returned from the break with renewed intensity and quickly put Hull under pressure. Reece James came close to restoring parity when his whipped free-kick struck the woodwork.
At the other end, Hull threatened to extend their lead when Martínez spilled a Regan Slater effort into the path of Oli McBurnie, although the striker was unable to react quickly enough to capitalise.
Chelsea eventually found their equaliser in the 66th minute. João Pedro reacted sharply inside the penalty area to fire home from close range and set up a tense final half-hour.
Both sides had opportunities to claim all three points in an open finish. Rogers saw an effort saved directly by Tzolakis, while Mohamed-Ali Cho was unable to beat Martínez as the chances continued to come and go.
Neither team could find a winning goal, leaving Chelsea to settle for a point and extending their unbeaten head-to-head record against Hull to 18 matches, with 15 wins and three draws.
The result also means Chelsea have failed to win any of their last five home league matches against promoted teams, recording four draws and one defeat.
For Hull, the point represents another impressive result on their return to the Premier League. Despite winning just once in their previous 20 away league matches before this campaign, the Tigers have now followed their road victory over Coventry with another positive result and remain third in the early Premier League table, one place above Chelsea.
