30 Young Nigerians Complete Tech Scholarship Programme, Gain Digital Skills for Global Opportunities

A new wave of digitally skilled talent is emerging in Nigeria, as 30 young participants successfully completed the first edition of the Idris Aregbe Tech Scholarship Programme, an initiative focused on preparing youth for opportunities in today’s technology driven world.

The programme, which recently held its graduation ceremony, provided intensive, hands on training across key areas in technology. Designed to go beyond theory, the initiative equipped participants with practical skills aimed at making them competitive in both local and global digital markets.

According to organisers, the scholarship is part of a broader effort to address Nigeria’s widening digital skills gap, while opening up pathways for young people to thrive in the fast evolving tech and innovation space.

The training was delivered in collaboration with partners, including aiNova Africa and Remostart, both of whom played active roles in shaping and executing the programme. In a statement, aiNova Africa’s Managing Partner, Damilare Fakorede, emphasised the importance of widening access to digital and artificial intelligence education across the continent.

He noted that the performance of the inaugural cohort reflects what is possible when young people are given the right tools and opportunities. According to him, the experience reinforces the idea that Nigerian talent can compete on a global scale when properly supported.

As part of the graduation highlights, one standout participant was recognised for exceptional performance and awarded a laptop by iGadgets a gesture aimed at supporting continued learning and growth.

Chief Executive Officer of iGadgets, Okedele Anuoluwapo Tiwalade, underscored the role of access to devices in shaping career progression, noting that the right tools can significantly accelerate opportunity in the digital space.

For the convener, Idris Aregbe, the programme represents more than just training it is a long-term investment in Nigeria’s youth. He explained that the initiative is designed to equip participants not only with technical skills, but also with the confidence and exposure needed to succeed in the digital economy.

With the first cohort now complete, organisers say plans are already underway to expand the programme, bringing similar opportunities to even more young Nigerians in future editions.
