Bonny Councillor Disburses July, August Stipends to Ward 10 Elders

The Leader of the Bonny Legislative Council and Councillor representing Ward 10, Kingsley Jumbo, has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of elderly residents in the ward with the disbursement of monthly stipends for July and August.

The intervention is being implemented under the Ward 10 Elderly Monthly Stipend Initiative, through which selected elderly beneficiaries from communities across the ward receive a monthly stipend of ₦150,000.

According to Jumbo, the initiative is aimed at providing direct welfare support to elderly citizens who have made significant contributions to the development of their communities and the wider Bonny Kingdom.

Speaking during the presentation, Jumbo reiterated his commitment to sustaining the programme, stressing that elderly residents remained an important constituency deserving of continuous attention and support.

He also disclosed plans to introduce additional people-oriented initiatives in Ward 10, particularly programmes focused on elderly welfare and youth empowerment.

The proposed interventions, he said, would seek to improve livelihoods, create opportunities and strengthen economic participation among residents of the ward.

Jumbo further appealed to residents of Ward 10 to continue to pray for and support the administration of the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple, in the interest of sustained development across Bonny LGA.

Beneficiaries and their representatives expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of compassionate and people-centred leadership.

They said the financial assistance had provided much-needed relief to elderly residents while also promoting a sense of dignity, reassurance and renewed hope that their contributions to their communities had not been forgotten.

The beneficiaries noted that the consistency of the monthly intervention made it particularly significant, describing it as an important welfare programme for elderly citizens being facilitated at the ward level by an elected representative.
