The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, known as NSCDC, reports that it carried out 81 operations in Rivers State during the first 100 days under State Commandant Dennis Reuben.
These operations led to the arrest of 148 suspects who were involved in oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other security offences.
Commandant Dennis Reuben shared this information during a briefing about the command’s activities. He explained that the operations were part of an effort to fight illegal oil bunkering and to protect important national assets across the state.
According to Commandant Reuben, cooperation with other security agencies, following the directive of the NSCDC Commandant-General, has made the command’s operations stronger.

The Mines and Steel Unit recently stopped a tanker carrying 45,000 litres of suspected mined ethanol and arrested six suspects.
In another operation, 32 suspects were arrested along with six trucks. Four other suspects were caught with two trucks that were allegedly carrying vandalised oil pipeline materials.
Commandant Reuben said that 81 major cases were recorded in this period, resulting in 148 arrests. Of those arrested, 11 suspects have already been convicted, while 20 others are now facing prosecution in courts.
The command also gave sanctions to six security companies in Rivers for allegedly breaking regulations that govern their operations.
Commandant Reuben warned anyone involved in activities that threaten the peace of the state or the safety of assets to stop immediately. He stressed that the NSCDC will act against anyone who continues to undermine security in Rivers.
