Afrobeats singer Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, popularly known as Oxlade has revealed that fellow artist Fireboy DML played a pivotal role in shaping his music composition skills during the early stages of his career.
Speaking during a recent livestream with popular content creator Shank Comics, the Kulosa hitmaker described Fireboy’s mentorship as “life-changing,” praising his unmatched penmanship and influence.
“When it comes to pen game, nobody is touching him [Fireboy]. I learnt how to properly compose music from Fireboy. He was miles ahead,” Oxlade said.
“He was part of my transition into making proper music before I started doing my own thing. Him putting me on was life-changing.”

Oxlade emphasized that Fireboy’s lyrical depth and songwriting discipline helped him evolve from raw talent into a refined artist. He also noted that Fireboy’s generosity and guidance were instrumental in his early development.
