The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has ended a decade-long search for a title sponsor after securing a three-year, $7.5 million partnership with Poland-based investment and technology company, EuroMatch Group.
The agreement, announced by the NPFL board in Abuja on Wednesday ahead of the 2026/27 season, is valued at $2.5 million annually.
Under the sponsorship arrangement, 60 per cent of the annual proceeds, amounting to $1.5 million, will be shared among the league’s 20 clubs. At an exchange rate of N1,344 to the dollar, the allocation translates to approximately N2.019 billion collectively each season.
NPFL chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, said the agreement would strengthen the financial position of the clubs and improve the welfare of players in the top flight.
“What we need is more visibility for the league. On our own part, we will continue to move on. Every season we are going to get about $2.5m from EuroMatch for three years, that is $7.5m,” Elegbeleye said.
He said part of the sponsorship proceeds would be used to improve players’ wages, while urging the clubs to ensure that the financial benefits of the deal were reflected in players’ welfare.
“The clubs will get 60 per cent of what we are doing, and this must reflect in the welfare of our players,” he added.
The agreement marks the first major title sponsorship secured by the Nigerian top-flight league since telecommunications company Globacom ended its sponsorship in 2016.

Globacom’s final sponsorship agreement began in the 2012/13 season and continued through the 2016 Super Four competition. Following its withdrawal, the league operated without a title sponsor, prompting the then League Management Company (LMC), which administered the competition, to adopt a multi-sponsor model.
League documents subsequently maintained the NPFL name while efforts continued to secure a new title sponsor.
EuroMatch Group, headquartered in Warsaw, operates in the regulated gaming and technology sector. Its portfolio includes Euromatch, a consumer sportsbook brand, and GB2B, a business-to-business gaming technology platform serving licensed operators.
The company says it has licensed gaming operations in Nigeria and Kenya and is pursuing regulatory approvals in other markets, including Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia and Mozambique.
EuroMatch Group chairman, Sadi Semih, described the partnership as a strategic investment in Nigerian football.
He said the company was ready to work with the NPFL and other stakeholders to ensure the agreement delivers sustainable value and enhances the league’s international profile.
However, the formula for distributing the $1.5 million allocated to the 20 clubs has yet to be announced.
The sponsorship proceeds could assume greater significance if the National Sports Commission’s proposed N1 billion prize money for the NPFL champions from the 2026/27 season is implemented.
The new NPFL season is scheduled to begin on Friday with a South-West derby between five-time champions Shooting Stars and newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
