Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG Port Harcourt Zone, have expressed optimism that 2023 would be better if only its members and Nigerians at large would vote wisely come the general election to end the sufferings of the people.

NUPENG Zonal Chairman Port Harcourt, Comrade Mina Samuel, in an interview with our correspondent, said so many challenges accompanied 2022, hardship on its members and Nigerians while lamenting the high cost of food supply in the country.

He, however, expressed hope that only voting with a conscience would bring a positive change, therefore urged the Rivers people to be hopeful and use their vote wisely.

“2022 has gone, and we are stepping into 2023; it will be a new beginning, and there is hope because after the election, a new government will emerge, and the country will be better. It is a voting period; let’s vote wisely and with our conscience to get a good governor or governance. I want to encourage all members, including Nigerians, to be hopeful

“This year was terrible; a bag of rice cost about forty-something thousand, half bag about twenty-something thousand, one life chicken is sold between ten to fifteen thousand. Nigerians have suffered a lot, a high rise in the price of commodities.

“As a Union, we had so many challenges; we believe in the capacity of the national leadership of our Union to tackle the issues.

Comrade Samuel further advised its members to use the Yuletide season as a sober reflection and be conscious while celebrating.
