FRSC to clamp down on car owners still using old plate numbers in Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Sector Commander of The Federal Road Safety Corp, C.C David .U. Mendie has said that the command will begin clamping down on car owners still using old number plates.

Mr Mendie state during a familiarization visit to The Mayor of Portharcourt City Hon Victor Ihunwo in his office on Monday that the command will work to decongestion in the city.

He appealed to the Mayor to prevail on vehicle owners in the city still using the old number plates to ensure they change to the new number plates before the end of the year, adding that the Federal Road Safety Corp will begin a nationwide clampdown on vehicles still using the old number plates by the 1st of January 2020.

Mayor of Portharcourt City Hon Victor Ihunwo thanked the sector commander for the visit and assured him of a cordial working relationship between the council and the Rivers state sector command.

The Mayor explained that there is an existing ban on the operations of tricycles popularly called “Keke Napep” in the city between the hours of 6pm and 6am daily, urging the sector command to also partner with other security agencies to ensure that the ban is sustained.

“Whenever you have issues and you feel the council can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to let us know,our doors are always open to you”; Hon Ihunwo said.
