Elele King denies installing a successor

Ikwerre Local Government Chairman, Samuel Nwanosike has stepped into the crisis rocking Elele Clan Council of Chiefs over chairmanship tussle.

Nwanosike led a fact-finding mission to Elele in order to ascertain the truth behind claims that the traditional ruler of Elele, His Royal Majesty, Eze Jonathan O. G. Amadi Nye-Nwe-Ali Elele Okiniali Ni Elele Alimini of Rivers State, is too sick which makes his stool to abuse itself.

The fact-finding mission was to also put to rest the allegation that he installed a successor.

But the king denied installing or crowning anyone as Highness, Royal Highness, Eze Ali or Nyenweali, adding that such authority to crown anyone is only preserved for the Governor of Rivers State.

The king said he only conferred palace chiefs to three persons, adding that since his intention of goodwill is being misconstrued and misrepresented, he will suspend Chief Okechukwu Okah and Chief Justice Amadi indefinitely.

According to him: “As a build-up to this crisis and the issuance of authorised correspondence emanating from the palace, I hereby terminate the appointment of Mr Gabriel Amadi as the Palace Secretary.

“Okechukwu Okah should immediately remove all write-ups on his gate, house and any other place that describe him as Highness, Royal Highness, Eze Ali or Nyenweali as there cannot be two captains in one ship and do not have authority to install him as one and never did”

Nwanosike, however, expressed shock over the receipt of another letter claimed to be coming from Elele Clan Council of Chiefs, addressed to the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, and signed by Eze Okechukwu Okah (JP), Chairman, Elele Kingdom Council of Chiefs, Chief P. A. Elechi, Secretary, Chief A. O. E. Amadi (JP), Sir Chief A. U. Ogba, Eze Justice Amadi (JP), amongst others as regards to the quagmire.

He said: “I want to also state here that Council will disregard this letter and go ahead with the proper thing of bringing peace in Elele Traditional Institution”.

He said that the decisions of the Royal Majesty which were written down and copied to the security agents and others are the final say as regards to Elele traditions, and that is the stand of the council.
