ASUU describes Buhari’s education policy as disaster

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s education policy as a disaster.

Reacting to claims by Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi that university professors earn more than state chief executives, chairman of the University of Ibadan branch, Dr. Deji Omole, in a statement, maintained that allocations to the sector had been on the decline since the current administration came on board.

Meanwhile, the union’s president, Biodun Ogunyemi, has hinted of resumption of talks tomorrow with the Federal Government to resolve the impasse.

He said yesterday in Abuja that the meeting is at the instance of the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and the government negotiating team.

Also yesterday, the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) described government’s school feeding programme as a conduit pipe to siphon public funds.

Its north central zonal president, Alhaji Katcha Kudu, made the condemnation in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Katcha, who described the project as a failure, noted that the money spent so far on the policy was unjustifiable given the quality of meals.
