A report reveals that Maduka Okoye, the goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, is potentially facing a four-year suspension due to alleged sporting fraud after being referred to the disciplinary commission.

The report indicates that the allegations are more serious than initially thought, specifically involving sporting fraud rather than just irregular betting.

As reported by football-Italia, Okoye is accused of deliberately receiving a yellow card in the 64th minute of a Serie A match between Udinese and Lazio.

This match occurred on March 11, 2024, during which he was cautioned for time-wasting while his team was leading 2-1.

Authorities have observed an increase in suspicious betting activity associated with Okoye’s yellow card, which, at odds of 8/1, is said to have resulted in over €120,000 in winning bets.

The majority of these bets came from areas surrounding the city of Udine.

Okoye is currently under investigation along with three associates, including the owner of a pizza restaurant in Udine, and has now been referred to the disciplinary commission.
