Former Arsenal and England striker, Ian Wright, has encouraged the Gunner’s transfer board to pursue Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, Ademola Olajade Lookman, during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Gunners have consistently finished as runners-up in the English Premier League for the last three seasons, and the two-time FA Cup champion believes that incorporating the 2024 CAF Player of the Year into Arteta’s roster will significantly enhance Arsenal’s chances of securing the title next season.
Ademola Lookman is anticipated to depart from Atalanta this summer and has attracted interest from multiple clubs, although his preferred destination remains uncertain. “I’m going to go with Ademola Lookman winning the African Player of the Year in respect of that man’s journey,” the 61-year-old stated on Wrighty’s House podcast.

“I recall him from Charlton; it didn’t work out at £10 million with Everton, then he moved around quite a bit, and I think that performance in the final, where he scored a hat-trick against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, was one of the most remarkable I’ve witnessed.
“You know, I can’t help but reflect on his challenging moments, particularly during those loan spells in different countries. He never hesitated to go wherever he needed to in order to succeed.” “Then, as you mentioned, he eventually found his place, similar to how Scott McTominay has found his with Atalanta.
“I hope Arsenal can secure his signing. I would love to see someone like him return to the Premier League and declare, ‘Listen, I have unfinished business here, so I will assist Arsenal in winning the league.’ “I truly admire his journey, and he is now rightly acknowledged as an exceptional player, unbelievable,” the former English Premier League winner concluded.
Ademola Lookman has netted 52 goals and provided 25 assists in 118 appearances for Atalanta across all competitions, and whichever club he joins next will be acquiring a world-class talent.
