Wastes block roads, waterways in Oyigbo.

Residents in Oyigbo have decried the rate of indiscriminate waste disposal in the area, saying that it is hazardous to their health.

Speaking to a TPCN correspondent on Wednesday, residents of Oyigbo local government area, lamented lack of evacuation of refuse dump by agents of Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA.

The residents stated that RIWAMA agents have not been able to evacuate wastes in the area in the past four months.

TPCN also learned that the wastes have blocked roads and waterways thereby causing environmental pollution in the area.

They, therefore, appealed that the Rivers State government call on relevant agencies, especially RIWAMA, to handle the piled up and decomposing wastes before they completely become unbearable.
