43rd FEPSGA Games Concludes in Port Harcourt

The 43rd edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA), hosted by Rivers State under the banner of “FEPSGA Rivers 2024,” has successfully drawn to a close. The week-long event concluded with a colorful and grand ceremony at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

The closing ceremony, which began at 9:00 am, saw a gathering of federal and state government officials, athletes, technical officials, and enthusiastic members of the public who came to witness the culmination of this exciting sports festival.

Rivers State served as the hub of sporting excellence for the past week, welcoming over 8,000 athletes representing 80 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the federal government, along with the host team, Team Rivers.

The games were conducted in an atmosphere of intense competition and sportsmanship, which not only highlighted the athletic prowess of civil servants but also fostered camaraderie and unity among participants. Athletes competed in various events, with new champions emerging in some categories, while others defended their titles in thrilling displays of talent and resilience.

This year’s event marked the second time Rivers State hosted the FEPSGA Games, further solidifying its status as a premier destination for national sporting events. The games provided a platform for federal civil servants to compete for honors, maintain physical fitness, and engage in valuable networking opportunities. Participants and spectators alike commended the state for its excellent organization, hospitality, and the vibrant spirit of the games.

One of the most eagerly anticipated moments of the closing ceremony was the football Grand Finale, which featured an intense and highly competitive match. Following the finale, medals were presented to the top three teams in the football category, a highlight of FEPSGA Rivers 2024. The honored teams were:

3rd place: Supreme Court

2nd place: Refugees Commission

Champions: Customary Court of Appeal

The closing ceremony also included the presentation of trophies and medals to winners across various sporting disciplines, marking the end of a successful and memorable edition of the FEPSGA Games.
