Tobi Amusan Makes Semi Final Of 100m Hurdles

Reigning world champion Tobi Amusan demonstrated her exceptional skill and speed on Wednesday at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, effortlessly qualifying for the semi-finals of the 100-meter hurdles event. With a blistering time of 12.49 seconds, Amusan dominated the competition, leaving a trail of talented athletes in her wake. American hurdler Alaysha Johnson secured the second spot with a respectable time of 12.61 seconds, while Jamaica’s Janeek Brown also qualified for the next round with a time of 12.84 seconds.

Tobi Amusan, 27, has been on a roll leading up to the Olympics, achieving a season’s best and world-leading time of 12.40s in the 100m hurdles at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in May. Earlier in the year, she set multiple African records in the indoor 60m hurdles and won her third consecutive African Games title in Ghana, along with gold in the 4x100m relay. She also triumphed at the African Championships in Cameroon. This season, Amusan has participated in 17 events across various disciplines, including the 60m, 100m, 100m hurdles, and 4x100m relay, showcasing her impressive range and dominance.

Tobi Amusan, a highly decorated athlete, boasts an impressive array of accolades, including three consecutive Diamond League titles, two Commonwealth Games gold medals, two African championships, and three African Games gold medals. Her extensive experience on the global stage also includes participation in two Olympic Games, specifically the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
