The expansion of the Asari-Toru Women Education Centre WEC, in Buguma City, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, will open up greater educational opportunities for women and girls in the area.
The facility will accommodate more learners, improve access to education, and promote the empowerment of women and girls through quality learning.
The Chairman of Asari-Toru LGA, Hon. George Onengiyeofori, revealed his intention to make improvements in the WEC in Buguma City, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, when he received officials from Rivers State Senior Secondary School Board.
Onengiyeofori appealed to all relevant stakeholders to be actively involved in promoting the education and vocational training of women in the area.

Interaction with the board official, the chairman renewed his commitment to empowerment of women and youths in education.
He revealed that enhancing women’s educational standards and providing them with necessary skills was important for the development of the economy in Asari-Toru and alleviation of poverty.
The LG boss urged government functionaries, corporate organizations, and community stakeholders to join hands in ensuring the successful implementation of current projects, while at the same time, he underlined the importance of education as a tool for sustainable development and empowerment of women.
Further, Onengiyeofori reiterated the dedication of his government in putting investments in education to ensure a bright future for everyone in Asari-Toru.
Reacting to the chairman’s speech, the delegation from the Rivers State Senior Secondary School Board team commended the project and noted the significance of vocational training in creating self-reliant women and girls.
