Peter Obi, a misfit in PDP – South-South Labour Party Vice-Chairman

The South-South Vice Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Prince Favour Reuben has said that the presidential flagbearer of the party, Peter Obi, was a misfit while in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that the former Governor of Anambra State, Obi moved to Labour Party on May 27th, 2022 and also emerged as its presidential flagbearer ahead of the 2023 elections.

Speaking exclusively with TPCN on Monday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Reuben said the party is ready to take over the reins of power, both at the national and state level considering the capabilities of their candidates.

According to him, “Obi was a misfit in PDP,” which he said would have killed the valid dreams and ideas their presidential candidate is bringing to Nigerians.

He said the clamour over the party’s political structure in Nigeria was mere noise, maintaining that just like Obi has stated, the people were the structure and not mere buildings.

Reuben said Nigerians need a breath of fresh air after years of suffering in the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP, who he said have only succeeded in refining and presenting the same people over and over again.

He noted that the rotation of power by zoning practised in the political circle has not been favourable to all the geo-political zones involved, adding that the southeast has been the most marginalised.

On the emergence of Beatrice Itubo, the state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the party in Rivers State, the Vice Chairman stated that members of the party have chosen who they deem capable to do the job in 2023.

He maintained that the declaration of non-support to Itubo’s governorship course by the leadership of the state pensioners were mere “political gimmicks” staged by political actors who have no facts on paper.

He called on Rivers people, particularly women, to break the bonds on gender inequality and support Itubo to emerge as Rivers governor in 2023.
