Breaking: Petroleum Tanker explosion kills two in Rivers community

Two persons are now feared dead and several buildings raised down by fire in Omerelu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State after two petroleum tankers collided in the early hours of Tuesday.

An eyewitness who is an indigene of the community said a tanker conveying petroleum product was stopped by the petroleum task force in an attempt to allegedly extort the driver when another tanker collided with the tanker at the checkpoint.

The eyewitness said the fire started after the two tankers collided, leading to the destruction of properties and the loss of lives.

AMADI while revealing that angry youths of the community have risen against the activities of the petroleum task force called on state government to intervene to save the people.

He said the youths of the community have dismantled Petroleum Checkpoints in the area following the fire incident. Details later
