Terrorists kill abducted Kaduna university students

Three out of 22 students of Greenfield University, Kaduna State abducted by terrorists have been killed by their abductors.

The students were taken away among 19 others from their school located along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Tuesday night, April 20 by a terror group.

Twenty-two persons, including 14 female students, six male students, and two female staff members of the university were abducted.

Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, made the revelation on Friday.

Aruwan said the bodies of the three students were found in Kwanan Bature village, a location close to the university, and have been taken to a mortuary by himself and MH Abdullahi, a Lieutenant Colonel and the Force Commander, Operation Thunder Strike.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers stormed the university Tuesday night, shooting sporadically before whisking away some of the students. They also said the inadequate security presence made the university susceptible to the attack as it is located in one of the epicentres of kidnapping.

It was gathered that troops of Operation Thunder Strike responded to a distress call from the university.

“Troops trailed the kidnappers and rescued three female students, 16 male students, and one adult male staff [member] who took refuge in the bushes,” a security source informed HumAngle, adding that one locally made pistol was recovered.

The abduction is the second attack on a tertiary institution in the state within two months.
