While the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, was putting measures in places, including shutting down of markets, banning of large religious gatherings, shutting of clubs, parks and placing restrictions on other public outdoor events like weddings and burials, his Chief of Staff, Mr Emeka Woke was gathering crowd to commission a mono pump.
Mr Woke, defying the social distancing rules set out to combat the dreaded COVID-19, on Monday, commissioned a Mono pump in Oduoha community.
He also handed over a Two bedroom apartment to an indigent widow in the community in Emohua Local Government Area, his local government area of origin.
Rivers has only one coronavirus case after the index case, a 19-year-old model was discharged days ago.
Mr Wike had announced stringent measures that will enable the government to curtail the spread of the virus.
The Chief of staff, while commissioning the Mono Pump, said he decided to build a mini pump, because CDC chairmen and Chiefs of various communities where he has sited some borehole projects, converted the generator sets which were supposed to give water to the people for personal use.
He said the actions denied the communities the opportunity of having access to water.
He also advised such community leaders to desist from such an inhuman act.
