Rivers not recruiting teachers, Commissioner says

The Rivers State government has denied media reports that it is embarking on the recruitment of new teachers for primary and secondary schools in the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Professor Kaniye Ebeku, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt Thursday, described the media report as scam.

The statement reads in part: “The attention of the Rivers State Ministry of Education has been drawn to a false publication making rounds that the Ministry of Education has commenced recruitment of teachers.

“The Ministry hereby states as follows:That there is no ongoing recruitment exercise.

“That the information of an ongoing recruitment exercise through the RIVemis or other job platform is false and should be discountenanced

“That the Ministry of Education will make formal publications via the radio and print media should there be any recruitment exercise.

“The General public is advised to shun such publication as it is fake news; a scam.”
