Nigeria’s Future Eagles will begin their Tier C campaign at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival when they face New Caledonia in the Round of 32 on Wednesday, October 28, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 a.m. Nigerian time (WAT), equivalent to 11:30 a.m. in Baku, with the Hovsan Competition Complex hosting the encounter.
The match will be streamed live on FIFA+ via DAZN, allowing Nigerian fans to follow the young side’s progress in the competition. FIFA has confirmed that matches at the tournament are available live and free of charge on the platform.
The Future Eagles head into the fixture unbeaten in their five group-stage matches, recording one victory and four draws. Their only win came against Cyprus, whom they defeated 2-1, while their other four matches ended in draws.
Nigeria finished third in Group AD with seven points, securing a place in Tier C for the tournament’s second phase. The team also drew against South Sudan, Jordan, The Gambia and Pakistan during the opening stage.
The Tier C encounter offers the Nigerian youngsters an opportunity to continue their campaign and compete for honours in the tournament’s tier-based format.
The inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival features 189 FIFA member associations, with teams progressing through different tiers based on their group-stage performances. Unlike a conventional tournament in which teams are eliminated after defeat, the format allows every participating side to continue competing for final positions.
Matches are played in an eight-a-side format over two 20-minute halves. The Tier A winner will be recognised as the overall champion of the competition.
