The OK Movement has called on political parties to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, improve strategic planning and build effective organisational structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement, a political coalition backing a proposed joint ticket featuring Peter Obi as presidential candidate and Rabiu Kwankwaso as vice-presidential candidate under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), was established to mobilise support for the proposed ticket.
The National Director-General of the movement, Mr John Ughulu, made the call in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
Ughulu said successful election campaigns required thorough preparation, functional structures and coordinated efforts to reach voters, stressing that appointing campaign officials alone was not enough.
He noted that political organisations needed strong grassroots networks and clear strategies to connect with voters across the country.
According to him, early preparation is essential as political parties and support groups step up activities ahead of the elections.
Ughulu said the OK Movement was focusing on strengthening its organisational structures and improving grassroots coordination as part of its preparations for the polls.
He added that political ambition must be matched with the ability to mobilise supporters, coordinate campaign activities and maintain regular engagement with voters.
While acknowledging the importance of campaign councils and prominent political figures, he stressed that their efforts would yield better results when supported by effective structures and well-coordinated mobilisation strategies.
Ughulu reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to grassroots participation, saying it would continue to strengthen its organisational capacity and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
