The Provost Rivers State College of Health Science, Management and Technology, Dr Franklin Nlerum, has assured students of the institution of better infrastructural development that will elevate the college to an international standard.
Dr Nlerum who stated this while being honoured with an award of excellence by Niger Delta Student Union based on his numerous academic achievement for the college, said he and his management team are working effortlessly to graduate the best of students from the college.
He noted that his main target is to ensure, students learn in a conducive atmosphere free from all activities that may cause insecurity, which may hinder the growth of the institution.
“I must thank His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, who allowed me to be appointed as the Provost this college to contribute my quota in the development of education, without the opportunity I would not have been honoured today. Having elevated the status of the college to a tertiary institution that can match every other tertiary institution in the state and Nigeria, I desire to ensure that we have infrastructural development and to engage the right staff that will deliver on their mandate as lecturers.”
He urged the students to be committed in their studies and desist from crimes such as cultism and every other social vice that will bring security unrest in their various campuses.
National President Niger Delta Student Union Government, Daniel Samuel, explained that the honour conferred on the Provost is as a result of the enormous impact he has made and the student-oriented policies he has put in place while pledging their support to the school management.
On his part, Student Union President, Rivers State College of Health, Rosary Braide, said that since the inception of the Provost, the college had experienced a total turnaround in infrastructure.
She said there is ongoing construction of classrooms and offices, a minimum of twenty hours power supply daily, improvement in security and the mobilising of students for NYSC for the first time.
