Youths of Choba Community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have threatened to boycott the security, peace and reconciliation meeting scheduled to hold today in the community.

According to the youths, their decision is based on the re-arrest and detention of four executives members of Choba Youth body including the chairman, FRANCIS IHUNDA, who were invited by men of Anti-Cultism and were being detained due to an investigation over an alleged petition.

Our reporter gathered that FRANCIS IHUNDA and three others were invited after the death of the Choba CDC chairman and Chief priest and released a day before the visit of Governor NYESOM WIKE and were invited and rearrested last Sunday 21st July 2019 by men of Anti-Cultism Unit of Rivers State Police Command.

Spokesman of Choba youths, CHIMENEM ODUNGWERU, who spoke to journalists on the issue, said the action of men of Anti-Cultism is contrary to the order given by Governor NYESOM WIKE to the Paramount Ruler of the community last week, to call the people together and make peace.

He stressed that it will be wrong for any youth to attend a security, peace and reconciliation meeting when some of the youth leaders are currently in detention under the disguise of an investigation while calling on Governor NYESOM WIKE, commissioner of police to intervene for the interest of peace and unity in the community.

It will interest you to know that the leadership of Choba Youth have been in running battles with the traditional leadership of the community over the existence of the youth body which saw FRANCIS IHUNDA as Chairman and some of the youth members have been severally petitioned and detained.
