Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has commended Moses Usor and Moses Simon for their contributions to Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Nigeria came from behind to secure all three points at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday night.
Madagascar stunned the home crowd with an early goal. However, debutant George Ilenikhena restored parity before another debutant, Usor, scored the winner for the Super Eagles.
Speaking after the match, Chelle singled out Usor and Simon for special praise.
The Malian tactician said both players brought energy and attacking intent to the team during the contest.
“They bring this energy, they bring this one-on-one,” Chelle told reporters after the game.
Usor enjoyed a memorable outing as he marked his debut with the winning goal. Simon, who made his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles, also impressed after coming off the bench.
The victory handed Nigeria a winning start to their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s Group L clash against Guinea-Bissau as they seek to maintain their perfect start in the qualifiers.
