Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has admitted that he never imagined he would reach the milestone of 100 appearances for Nigeria.
The Paris FC star achieved the feat on Friday night during Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Simon came off the bench in the 61st minute, replacing Akor Adams to earn his 100th cap for the three-time African champions.
The Nigeria Football Federation later honoured the winger with a commemorative frame featuring a Super Eagles jersey bearing his name and the number 100.
Speaking after the game, Simon expressed gratitude to the coaches who trusted him throughout his international career.
“First of all, I would like to say thanks to the coach for the opportunity, thanks to every coach that gave me this opportunity, and also thanks to you all, the journalists,” Simon said at the post-match press conference.
The 31-year-old described the achievement as one of the proudest moments of his career.
“Of course, this gives me joy and it’s a great privilege to play for the Super Eagles. It’s a dream come true. I never believed I would get there, and I never believed I would play 100 games,” he added.
Simon made his Super Eagles debut in 2015 and has since become one of the team’s most reliable players. He has featured at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns.
The winger joins an exclusive list of players who have reached the century mark for Nigeria, further cementing his place among the country’s most experienced internationals.
