The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a kidnapping case that occurred in Port Harcourt after a chase in the Eliozu-Rumuokoro axis of the city, where the police rescued the abducted victim and an AK-47 rifle.
The incident, which happened on September 24, 2026, at around 10:15 p.m., was initiated when the Command received intelligence of the kidnapping.
According to the Command’s spokesperson on Saturday, Agabe Blessing , the Convoy Patrol Team at Eliozu spotted the suspected kidnapper and chased them to Rumuokoro, by Eligbolu.
The Special Area Division operatives then sprung into action and arrested one of the suspects and rescued the victim, Emmanuel.
The rescued victim, Emmanuel, was taken to the nearest hospital for medical examination and treatment.

The arrested suspect, Sunday Rufus, aged 23 and hails from Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Among the items retrieved from the suspect were an AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a white tricycle with registration number PHC 756 ZY.
The Police said it was leaving no stone unturned in its effort to catch the other members of the suspected criminal network.
The Rivers State Command’s Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, appreciated the operatives of the Special Areas Division, for their speed, courage and professional skills that led to the successful rescue of the victim and apprehension of one of the abductors.
Adepoju promised that the Command would continue to operate on the intelligence and networked collation, to rescue victims and bring perpetrators of kidnapping and other violent crimes in Rivers State to justice.
He urged residents in the line of duty to give their efforts, time and resources to help the Police break the kidnapping and other violent crimes ring.
