FIDA organises spelling bee competition for children in Port Harcourt

Parent, caregivers and guardians have been called upon to nurture and train their children as stakeholders in nation building.

The Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Antonia Osademe, made this call while commemorating the 2019 Children’s Day celebration with the 3rd edition of FIDA Rivers Spelling Bee competition organised for public primary schools in Port Harcourt with the theme: “Nurturing our Children as stakeholders in Nation Building”

According to her, children should be brought up with a sense of responsibility, making them to understand that they have vital roles to play in the society.

The FIDA Chairperson stressed that such training will disassociate the children from the ills of the modern day trends.

She stressed that exposing Children to the skills of pronunciation and knowledge sharing will help them to improve academically.

Our correspondent Tina Amanda reports that a total of seven schools participated in the quiz competition.

The schools include: St Andrews state school Diobu; St Paul’s Model Primary School Diobu; Port Harcourt Primary School; Township Model School; Air Force Primary School; Police Children School and St Mary’s State School Aggrey.

However, St Andrew’s state primary school emerged as the winner while Port-Harcourt Primary School bagged 2nd position and St Paul’s model primary school emerged 3rd position.

The winners who spoke to our reporter expressed gratitude and explained that the trophy they won is based on hardwork and tireless study towards the quiz preparation.

Highlight of event include gift presentation and dance.
