NSCDC parades 8 for oil theft

The Rivers State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday paraded eight persons allegedly involved in illegal diversion of petroleum products.

Three large metal barges, four trucks suspected to be carrying illegal petroleum products, two speed boats and two vehicles impounded by the command were displayed before journalists.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Muhammed Lawal Haruna, said men of the command on October 26 impounded three large barges at Alakiri.

He said the 8 suspects paraded were involved in illegal diversion of petroleum products.

He restated the resolve of the command to tackle the menace of oil bunkering in the state and warned those involved in the criminal activities to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
