Large turn out greet voter’s registration at Bakana.

Indigenes of Bakana Island have turned out in their numbers to partake in the on-going continuous voter’s registration exercise embarked by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The locals said that although the process has been cumbersome, they want to make sure that everyone who has reached voting age registers.

INEC has been criticized for its inability to speed up the process. TPCN had reported the slow pace of the registration process in Portharcourt with those who turned out to be registered staying for days without successfully being registered.

The situation seems the opposite in Bakana. Although INEC still face hitches as regards threats by community thugs threatening to disrupt the process, it has made tremendous progress in making sure a good number of the locals discharge their franchise come 2019.
