President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fulfilled his $100,000 reward pledge to the Super Falcons following their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The players have begun receiving payments estimated at about ₦140 million, representing the naira equivalent of the President’s promise to reward the team for winning their 10th African title.
The Super Falcons made history in July 2025 after coming from two goals down to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final, extending their record as the most successful team in the competition.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade thanked Tinubu for fulfilling the pledge, describing the payment as a welcome recognition of the team’s achievement.
The reward follows a similar gesture towards Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, after they won their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title in 2025.
The National Sports Commission, led by Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director-General Bukola Olopade, also commended the President for supporting Nigerian athletes and honouring his commitment.
The fulfilment of the pledge recognises the Super Falcons’ achievement and adds to the rewards announced for Nigerian athletes following their success in international competitions.
