Former Turkish footballer Ahmet Dursun has criticised Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, describing the Nigerian international as selfish while praising Beşiktaş forward Dušan Vlahović.
Dursun made the comments during an appearance on Tivibu Spor, arguing that Vlahović’s playing style and teamwork make him the standout striker in the Turkish Süper Lig.
“In my opinion, Vlahović is by far the league’s best striker,” Dursun said.
The former player also accused Osimhen of prioritising individual performances over the collective interests of his team, warning that the approach could negatively affect both the striker and Galatasaray.
“Osimhen is so selfish, a player who plays for himself. He’s starting to harm both himself and his team. Every midfielder would want to play with Vlahović,” he added.
Dursun’s remarks have placed the contrasting playing styles of the two forwards under scrutiny, particularly regarding their contributions to team play and attacking combinations.
Osimhen is known for his aggressive movement, pressing and ability to threaten defenders, while Dursun believes Vlahović offers a style that makes him particularly effective in combination with his teammates.
Both strikers have enjoyed productive spells in front of goal this season, with the supplied figures placing them on six league goals each for their respective clubs.
However, goalscoring numbers alone do not provide a complete assessment of a striker’s contribution. Assists, chances created, movement, link-up play and overall involvement in a team’s attacking performance also offer useful measures.
Dursun’s comments represent his personal assessment of the two forwards, with their performances over the course of the season providing further context for comparisons between them.
