Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered a vehicle, firearms, and other items linked to the abduction of a woman identified only as Loveth.
The breakthrough came after armed men seized the victim on September 2, 2026, while she sat in front of her shop.
The gunmen fired shots into the air before forcing her into a vehicle and speeding off.
Acting on the directive of Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, operatives of Eleme Police Division launched intelligence-led operations.
They engaged the gang in a gunfight and arrested Victor Ini, 35, a native of Akwa Ibom State.

Police recovered a silver mini Keke bus with registration number RBC 992 XE (Abuja), two locally made pistols, one live round of ammunition, a mobile phone, two identity cards, two black gowns, and a vehicle number plate marked KRK 528 HG.
CP Adepoju said the command has intensified surveillance to track down the remaining members of the gang.
He assured residents that police remain determined to protect lives and property and bring criminals to justice.
The commissioner warned that Rivers State offers no haven for kidnappers and other violent offenders. He urged the public to stay vigilant, especially during the ember months when crime often rises, and to supply timely information to the police.
